Summer Camps 2015

We have Summer Camps starting from later June, and this year we have included a wide range of activities for children to choose from.

Costume and Prop Making:

From concept to Costumes students will learn how to develop a character and then create their own Costumes and props.  From Anime to Game OF thrones ,  anything is possible.

  • Times: 10am to 2 pm

 



 

 Print and Etching:

In this course students will learn the art of fine print.  Using dry point, solid and soft grounds on copper and line cuttings students will discover the many facets of this medium.

  • Times: 2:30am to 6:30 pm


 

Junior Mixed Media:

Our ever popular Junior Mixed Media camp is back! This camp is great fun and everyone gets a chance to create some fantastic 3D art.  In this camp we will be tapping into the students creative energy so that each student will make a number of large items which they will then decorate themselves.  Aimed at the first time art student and the “repeat offender” alike the items the will be made by the will be challenging yet achievable thereby encouraging both creativity and self-esteem.  Great fun is also guaranteed.

  • Times: 10am to 2pm


Animation and Stop Motion:

On this course each student will bring a character from sketch to screen.  Working from sketching to sculpting and finally film production and editing.  We expect this to be a very popular one so book early.

Design a Ukelele:

Have you ever wanted tour very own ukelele, painted and varnished with a design for your choice?  This course is the one for you.  We’ll even show you how to play a few songs.

  • Age: 8 years upwards
  • Fees: 120 euro
  • Times: 2:30pm to 6:30pm


NCAD Portfolio Preparation:

Leaving Cert Students wishing to gain a place in any of the 3rd level Art Colleges need a portfolio.  If you wish to secure a place in the Nation College of Art and Design (NCAD), Ireland’s leading Art College, then you have to produce a very specific Portfolio which rigidly adheres to the criteria laid down by the brief issued by the college.  This Portfolio cab also be used for other colleges in Dublin , Cork and Limerick.

Since the Introduction of the NCAD brief students of Skerries Art School has been very successful in gaining places; this year we succeeded in getting 12 students into NCAD; over 10% of the available places.

This Course is a two week course but in order to fulfill the brief students continue to attend a Portfolio class on a Friday evening until the end of January when the work is submitted.

  • Age: Leaving Cert and PLC students.
  • Fees: 420 euro
  • Times: 10 am to 5pm
  • Hours tuition: 70 hours.


Pottery and Ceramic Design:

Working with Kiln Clay the sudnets oin this camp will build beautiful pottery objects as well as designing and glazing their own mug, plate and cereal bowl.  In doing so the students will learn the fundimnetals of potter as well as good design and glazing techniques.

  • Age: 5 years and up
  • Fees: 120 euro
  • Times: 10am to 2 pm

 



Oil Painting in the Open Air:

With the location of our studio in Skerries Mills we have a rain-proof plan to get as many hours painting under the blue skies in as possible!

So come rain, hail, snow or shine ( and with our weather we can expect all 3 in the same day) the participants of this camp will be able to enjoy outdoor oil painting, learn drawing skills and how the use this medium to goo effect .  Each student will  create a large canvas which we will be shown at an art exhibition after the camp.
